Current Event Project 1

Summary:
As the upcoming election season begins the ads have also started their reign over the media. This year however democrats are trying desperately to hold on to the 39 seats they need to stay in control of the house.  The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee plans to  spend $49 million in 60 districts this fall. For the republicans the biggest problem is whether or not they have the resources to pick up all 39 seats. The NRCC has only committed $22 million to 41 races. The republicans are glad to  be on offense but this will be a fight to the finish to see who is able to grap all 39 spots in the end.

Critical thinking question:
While considering the funding and positions of each party, which one is more likely to grab most of the seats?

  1. I think that there is a very good chance that both of them will pick up some of the seats. I think that the republicains will be able to pick up some of the seats but not all 39. Based on the amount of money they are going to be spending. The democrates I think will keep some of the seats because they are spending mor money but the vote should not only be based on that. So I think that they will not keep all 39 seats.

  2. I feel that probably both parties will get some seats. Democrates have more funding so they may get more seats and because people will know more about them. But, you never know exactly who will get the seats and how many will be democrates versus republicans.

You did a very good job!
